The Dreaded Consultation Fee

It’s not so scary!

If you have worked with us before, you may be surprised to hear that we charge a consultation fee. No, you didn’t overlook it. There are a few different ways this looks at Yellow Weld.

Part of the reason you may not have noticed our consultation fee while working with us is that it turns into a credit after you pay your deposit at the estimation appointment (or we didn’t think it was necessary to charge one at all). Charging a fee pays for our labor to come observe the site, and offer our best recommendations based on industry standards.

However, if you approve a price and order work, the fee is credited to your total. We don’t charge a fee to “nickel and dime you”, but we value our time and the time of our employees. All consultation fees will be charged before a member of the team comes out. If you decide to move forward with a different contractor after a member of our team makes a visit to the worksite we will retain that fee. If you move forward with us, it will be credited to your invoice total.

That being said: we can often give an accurate price from good photos and descriptions alone. We will conduct a site visit regardless, but in many cases, it is merely an extra precaution. This is to take our own measurements and talk more about design, city code, and your vision for the final product. Here are a few helpful articles about: our process, and what it looks like when you call.
