Booth Arches in Michigan!

For this project, we were asked to build decorative booth arches for an office in Michigan. The idea for this was to have a space where all of the offices within the building had a designated area to sit down, comfortably, and enjoy their breakfast, lunch, or dinner during their work day.  There was a ton of design work that was needed to ensure it all came together and included enough flexibility to accommodate things not being perfect on site like floors not being flat or walls not being plumb.

There were many challenges. A big structure like this is full of hurdles when we need to assemble it and install it in another state.
The project as a whole, though, was not bad. Tommy stated how it was tricky bending the first retainer but after he did the first one, he was able to find a rhythm and be able to do the others with no problem.

To be able to bend them, he had to heat up the metal and then bend it with his hands. Once he was able to get the shape or be able to bend it far enough, he would clamp it down until it was the right ‘U’ shape.

The mesh was fairly tricky and a learning curve for sure! Tommy realized that when you tack the mesh, there is no wiggle room for adjustments. But he figured it out and look how beautiful it is!

We had the pleasure of working with Old Town Upholstery. Do you see the brown in between the panels? That is an accent board covered in felt they made for this project. With all of these components together, it brings a warm and comfortable look and feel to this whole area.

One of the perks of working for Yellow Weld is that we get to travel and oh boy did they! They drove north with everyone packed in a truck with tools following behind on the trailer.

Once they were up there they had to use a forklift to lift the parts to a bay door to get it up to the second floor. But once they were able to get everything up there, they were able to get to work. They had a really good plan but it was still a tricky installation that took a lot of patience and hard work.

The trip as a whole took a little bit longer than they planned, like all jobs you never know what can happen, let alone when the site is a state away. But they were able to get a hotel, get some rest for the next day, and get it done.

They all had a great time, especially Sam. With her still being in high school it was really neat. She showed a lot of dedication to see this job to the end with how much work she and Tommy put into it.
